FAQ about our Film Festival And how it works
What genres do you accept?
EVERYTHING! Yes, that includes horror and sci-fi.
How long can films be?
We consider a short anything 15 minutes or under and anything over 70 minutes as a feature. We have no cut off, but shorter is always better.
Do you have any ratings limitations? Must films be PG or PG-13? Do you program films with strong content and language?
We have no ratings limitations on films submitted. We program films with a variety content, from family friendly to films that would be more appropriate for mature audiences and would likely be rated R or higher. Our mission is to program great films and a strong lineup first and foremost. The film must not include hate speech, slanderous or libelous claims, or any other actionable offenses.
Do you screen films out of competition?
No not at this moment. This Festival is geared for only competition at the moment.
How many films are put in competition?
6 Films will compete in each section in their respective category. We will have 14 screening rooms for a total of 84 Films that will be in competition.
Do you program international films?
Yes, we love international films! We are lookin to screen films representing roughly 20 countries, We will program 24 international films to our festival. we will program more if we had the slots.
Do you prefer films with stars?
No. We prefer great and interesting stories.
How are films scored?
In the beginning Each film is watched by at least 2 screeners and films are scored using five criteria: Story, Technical, Originality, Acting/Subjects and Entertainment on a scale of 1 to 4. The scores are averaged for a final score for film to be nominated.
The scores are used to help narrow down the large number of submissions to create a pool of films to make final selections from. Once the Films Are nominated for their category The Audience Will participate on the voting process through a 5 Star voting system within the App base on the criteria above. The scores will then be tallied up and the winning filmmaker will then be Awarded The Audience Choice Award overall and the Best Film Award in each of its category.
Are films selected based on scores?
No. When it comes to final selections, films are selected based on the overall filmmaking, variety and what will make the strongest and most interesting lineup. When it comes to selecting films, it’s a film’s content and quality that matter, not it’s score
Can I see my scores?
Due to the number of submissions received and technical limitations, it’s not possible for us to share scores at this time. It is something we continue to explore every year and hope to one day make available to all filmmakers.
What is the next step after i submit and pay entry fee ?
After the Submission and entry fee is sent you will Download the festival app and Wait until the Festival Begins. The screening room consisting of all the films that made the Festival will have a predated date set for the festival and will not be available for screening until the festival begins.
How will i know that my film was selected to compete in the festival ?
Once our festival screeners has viewed the films submitted and select the films for competition we will post the films that are nominated on our website and on our social media network to over 10,000 of our followers.
How does the App Works And how will my Film get Screened ?
The nominated Films will enter the App and will be placed in their categories. Just like a Traditional Film festival you will promote the Film Festival app to your group of friends and family on your social network and envite them to download the app to screen your film and vote for you when the festival begins. Nexgen Mobile Film Festival Has over 10,000 followers and will be promotiong the festival on a daily basis to attract New screeners daily so Your film will be viewable to the general public for voting purposes.
How long will the Film Festival Run For ?
The Festival will run for a span of one week from the time the festival begins. So we encourage you to share the App before Hand and during the Festival so it increases the chance of your film to be seen more by your followers
Will there be a Q&A session like traditional Film Festivals ?
Yes, Our Festival Deeply Encourages Q&A within the App for the sole purpose to help educate others and filmmakers who shares this passion. The App will Consist of a Filmmakers corner where Each filmmaker will have the spotlight with their Picture and bio and contact info to be seen and for other filmmaker and Film lovers to be able to ask you questions in real time pertaining to your film.
ELIGIBILITY ?
The Nexgen mobile Film Festival is a premier showcase for U.S. and International feature, documentary and short films. The Nexgen Mobile Film Festival reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project submitted. Only works completed in 2011 - 2016 are eligible for competition. You must have obtained all the necessary rights (including music rights), consents, authorizations and licenses covering the film. There must not be pending or anticipated litigation regarding the film. You must have the authority to submit the film for our consideration.

Feature films, short films, documentaries must have been completed after January 1, 2011.

Feature films must not have had any commercial theatrical or television play.

All foreign films, features and short films in languages other than English must be subtitled in English to be considered for Festival presentation.

SCREENERS If your film is selected the Festival will require:

Electronic press kit with filmmaker bios, photo stills, plus, film trailers or clip reels, if available.
LIABILITY Although every possible care will be taken with films while in our possession, Do not send original prints or tapes. Please keep the NMFF notified of any address/phone number changes.
When will the competiton start and how will i recieve my cash award and Trophy ?
The films begin competing November 14th, 201 at 12:00 am ET. The film with the most votes on November 21st 2016 at 9:00 pm ET wins their repective awards. Nexgen Mobile Film Festival will send the Award and $500 to the winner’s address provided at time of registration.

Qualifications for entry
Drama, Romance, comedy, thriller & Animation

Films that qualify will be placed in their categories by Narritave shorts, Animated shorts, Student Shorts, intl. Shorts, Docu Shorts, and Feature Films and Intl Feature Films. The Film Must be made within the last 5 years and can have been entered previously into other festivals.
